THE OPPORTUNITY
In recent years, Beaver Valley has seen a continual rise of visitors to the region. Recognizing both opportunities and threats, the County of Grey, Municipality of Grey Highlands, the Town of The Blue Mountains, and Regional Tourism Organization 7 (RTO7) created a partnership to develop the 5-year Beaver Valley Sustainable Tourism Strategy. To advance this strategy, the group engaged BC Hughes to develop a 3-year Communications Plan to support effective engagement with key audiences and advance the strategy’s goals.
THE PROCESS
BC Hughes developed a strategic communications framework to support the long-term vision of the Beaver Valley Sustainable Tourism Strategy. The plan focused on delivering clear, targeted messaging through coordinated and collaborative efforts.
Key audiences and stakeholders were identified, along with the most effective communication channels to reach them. The plan established aligned messaging, defined goals, and set measurable objectives to support the strategy’s priorities, ensuring a consistent and purposeful approach to engagement.
THE OUTCOME
The Communications Plan provides a clear roadmap to strengthen engagement with residents, businesses, visitors, and stakeholders, aligning all messaging with the strategy’s focus on environmental sustainability, community well-being, and economic resilience.
By outlining targeted tactics, key messages, and measurable outcomes, the plan equips partners with the tools to promote responsible tourism, foster community pride, and protect the Beaver Valley’s unique character. It positions the region to successfully balance growth with stewardship, ensuring long-term benefits for both the community and visitors.
