THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Township of Clearview, a destination surrounded by high-growth tourism regions, recognized the need to proactively manage visitation while preserving its unique character. BC Hughes was engaged to develop a five-year Strategic and Sustainable Tourism Plan to guide future tourism growth, balancing economic opportunity with community well-being and while considering sustainability and stewardship.
THE PROCESS:
BC Hughes led a multi-phase planning process that included research, stakeholder consultation, site visits, and facilitated workshops. This work examined Clearview’s current tourism landscape, competitive positioning, and emerging trends, while gathering input from local stakeholders.
The resulting plan established strategic priorities to guide decision-making. Key focus areas included best bet target markets, strengthening destination awareness through coordinated marketing, increasing overnight accommodation capacity, establishing resources and supporting the development of market-ready, high-quality tourism experiences; all grounded in sustainability and the township’s unique assets.
THE OUTCOME:
The Strategic and Sustainable Tourism Plan provided a clear, actionable roadmap for tourism development in Clearview over a five-year period. It outlined targeted recommendations to align product development and marketing efforts with priority audiences, while building capacity.
Grounded in Clearview’s distinct identity of rural charm, natural beauty, and a strong food and farming culture, the plan emphasizes thoughtful, collaborative opportunities for tourism support and development. It positions the township to enhance its tourism offering and strengthen its economy.
