THE OPPORTUNITY
Grey County is a four season destination that attracts visitors year round with its attractions and outdoor activities. BC Hughes was hired by Grey County tourism to create their marketing plan, manage their online marketing and social media channels, with the goal of growing their online audience and encouraging visits to the area.
THE PROCESS
BC Hughes initially sat down with the Grey County Tourism team to determine the goals for the upcoming year, define the target audience, as well as identify key areas of focus for each season. With the information collected, BC Hughes created a marketing plan outlining the target audience and the tactics that would be used throughout the year to entice people to travel to the region.
Hired to manage the county’s social media, BC Hughes organized the process by creating a content calendar to guide social media tactics throughout the year. This included an ad schedule and content for seasonal eblasts, as well as planning for their annual Colouring It My Way campaign.
Developing marketing campaigns and managing their implementation, BC Hughes worked with Grey County Tourism on their Colouring it My Way campaign. It is designed to encourage locals to explore their backyard. A new and exciting outmarket campaign was added in 2019, with BC Hughes driving campaign ideas, its positioning and tactical plan
THE OUTCOME
BC Hughes’ efforts were successful at organizing marketing tactics for the county, ensuring that tactics were planned and undertaken in a methodical manner, and allowing more time for staff to focus on other initiatives.
BC Hughes engaged Grey County Tourism’s target audience, driving traffic to their social accounts and website. Ads experienced higher than normal engagement and click through rates. The target audience was engaged in conversations about the region, and enticed to visit.
