THE OPPORTUNITY:
BC Hughes was hired by Tourism PEI and TIAPEI to implement a Destination Canada project designed to equip Prince Edward Island tourism operators and industry representatives with the skills and inspiration needed to create memorable, market-ready visitor experiences rooted in regenerative practices.
THE PROCESS:
Two workshops were delivered, welcoming 24 participants, including and 14 tourism operators and 10 industry representatives. Each session highlighted inspiring examples of experiential and regenerative tourism offers from across the sector, while guiding participants through the steps of developing memorable, authentic experiences of their own. Post workshop training ensured participants moved forward with their ideas and had the support they needed to generate memorable idea and overcome any challenges.
The training equipped attendees with foundational context, encouraging them to build on PEI’s core strengths, and align their concepts with the priority focus areas identified in the province’s recently completed tourism strategy.
THE OUTCOME:
Participants were provided with the inspiration and support they needed to create authentic new and refined PEI experiences, with regenerative possibilities. The project helped to create an increasingly resilient tourism industry on the island, and set the stage to attract targeted domestic and international visitors.
