THE OPPORTUNITY
The Northern Ontario Product Development Project saw the need to increase the quality of the tourism offerings in Northern Ontario. Out of this need, Tourism Excellence North (TEN) was created, a Destination Northern Ontario program that delivers a cache of training options designed to better the Northern Ontario tourism experience. One of the educational components, the Best Practice Mission program, provides group learning opportunities in other communities.
THE PROCESS
As planners and leaders for the Best Practice Mission program, BC Hughes works with TEN to pair industry experts with a group of tourism stakeholders and business operators from Northern Ontario. While planning, BC Hughes ensures the group visits businesses and communities that are providing a top quality experience, with the tourism experiences related to the group’s interests in mind.
Guiding the group to their destination, BC Hughes ensures that the trip is engaging and applies industry expertise. We ensure the learning opportunities are on point and that the takeaways provide Northern Ontario businesses with the information they need to advance tourism in the region when they arrive back home.
THE OUTCOME
As leaders for the TEN Best Practices Mission program, BC Hughes is helping to increase the quality of Northern Ontario tourism experiences. Tourism stakeholders receive valuable ideas that they can implement in their business or community.
